Tommy Mottola to write book!
Tommy Mottola has signed a deal to write his memoirs
The mogul is best known for his successful career in the music industry, and has worked with stars including Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion, Diana Ross, Ricky Martin, Shakira, and Mariah Carey - who he was married to for three years.
The book will be called The Last Starmaker, recalling his rise to the top of the music world from his humble beginnings, and is set for release in early 2012.
Tommy grew up in The Bronx district of New York, and began his career as a singer called T.D. Valentine. He then rose up through the ranks of record company Sony Music, where he became its head and transformed it into one of the world’s most successful businesses.
"It's time to tell his story," a friend of the music mogul told the New York Post.
"The music industry is virtually over. Cream will always rise to the top. But the days of starmaking are over. Kids today only want one song, not the album, and they don't know who the artist is."
It is also believed Tommy wants to set the rumours straight on his failed marriage to Mariah, as he hasn’t really discussed their relationship. Tommy is now married to Mexican singer Thalia.
The music mogul will also recall how he witnessed the beginnings of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s relationship. The pop star couple are now happily married with baby twins, and Tommy says the duet he encouraged them to sing together initiated their love affair.
