Σε ακρόαση κλήθηκε κατά τη συνεδρίαση του Εθνικού Συμβουλίου Ραδιοτηλεόρασης ( ΕΣΡ) ο μουσικός τηλεοπτικός σταθμός MAD με αφορμή την προβολή (στις 8 Σεπτεμβρίου 2010) του video clip της Kylie Minogue «All The Lovers», στο οποίο χορεύουν αισθησιακά και φιλιούνται , φορώντας τα εσώρουχά τους, άνδρες και γυναίκες.

Εδώ ο κόσμος καίγεται, η Ελλάδα έχει άπειρα προβλήματα και τα μέλη του ΕΣΡ καλούν το MAD να δώσει εξηγήσεις για ένα videoclip, κάνοντας επίδειξη πουριτανισμού ή ίσως απλά… ομοφοβίας, μιας και στο επίμαχο video clip της Kylie Minogue ένα ζευγάρι ανδρών και ένα ζευγάρι γυναικών φιλιούνται.

Για την ιστορία το επίμαχο κείμενο ημερήσιας διάταξης του ΕΣΡ αναφέρει τα εξής:

Καλείσθε στην 5η συνεδρίαση του Εθνικού Συμβουλίου Ραδιοτηλεόρασης, την Τρίτη 8/2/2011 και ώρα 11:00, στο επί της οδού Πανεπιστημίου και Αμερικής 5 (3ος όροφος) Αθήνα, κατάστημα αυτού, με θέματα ημερησίας διατάξεως :

7. Ακρόαση του τηλεοπτικού σταθμού «MAD», για παροχή διευκρινίσεων σχετικά με ενδεχόμενη παράβαση των διατάξεων που αφορούν στα άρθρα : 15 παρ.2 του Σ. 8 παρ.1 και 3 του Π.Δ. 100/2000, 9 παρ. 1 και 3 του Κανονισμού του ΕΣΡ 2/91– προστασία ανηλίκων τηλεθεατών, (24ωρη ροή προγράμματος 8.9.2010- βιντεοκλίπ “All the lovers”).

The National Council of Radio and Television ( ESR ) of Greece called in hearing at a meeting the Greek musical television station MAD on the occasion of the projection (on 8 September 2010) of the video clip of Kylie Minogue “All The Lovers”, in which men and women dance sensually and are kissed, wearing their underwear.

In a period in which Greece has inexperienced problems, the members of ESR call MAD to give explanations for a video clip, making once more a demonstration of puritanism or maybe once more of homophobia, since in the controversial video clip of Kylie Minogue a male and a female couple are kissing. The official version is that ESR requires MAD to give explanations for potential infringement of the articles related to the protection of underage television viewers.

Homophobic past actions of the ESR

In November 2003, the national council for radio and television, fined one of the largest television networks in Greece, Mega, with 100.000 euros, for having aired a kisses between two male characters of the popular television show “Klise ta matia”. In December 2006, the Council of State, the country’s supreme administrative court, annulled this decision, sice the television scene reflected an “existing social reality, related to a social group, among many that make up an open and democratic society, whose sexual preferences are not to be condemned”. Moreover this was not the first time that a kiss between two male characters was aired in Greek television and the decision was heavily criticised by the Greek media as hypocritical and anachronistic.

On 21 December 2004 the ESR fined 94 Epikoinonia FM’ (Greek: 94 Eπικοινωνία FM), a municipal radio station in Athens, with 5,000 Euros, judging the content of the ‘Athens Gay and Lesbian Radio Show’ as “degrading”, resulting in the station cancelling the show. There is not any kind of radio information about LGBT matters anywhere in Greece since.

On September 2005, ESR formally enquired another one of Greece’s largest television networks, ANT1 (Antenna), for airing a publicity spot, by a popular chewing gum brand, depicting two women kissing.
